The state of Montana has recently announced a generous grants program to preserve and cultivate outdoor recreation opportunities within the state. Offering up to $200,000 in grants, this program is aimed at cultivating outdoor recreation opportunities as well as promoting conservation-minded activities and tourism within the state.

The grants will be distributed by the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, with applications due by the end of August. Grants are available to local governments, Tribal governments, non-profit organizations, and individuals for projects large and small. Eligible projects can include items such as development of recreational trails and access points, shoreline and waterway restoration projects, designated river recreation areas, and more.

In encouraging applications for these grants, the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks remind applicants that the program may be used for a wide variety of projects, from ensuring recreational access to public lands, to creating opportunities for all-ages outdoor recreation and education. Furthermore, they express their desire to further tourism and encourage people to visit Montana’s excellent natural lands, waters and forests.

The Montana state government’s grants program is intended to take advantage of all the incredible outdoor opportunities the state has to offer. By embracing conservation-minded projects as well as avenues to promote active participation in recreational activities and nature-based tourism, the state government hopes to accomplish their goals of developing an environment that is truly unique and inviting.

With applications being due at the end of August, those interested in taking advantage of this generous grant program must act fast in order to have their projects considered. Those interested in applying should contact the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks for more information on the program and its rules and regulations.
