Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell speaks to reporters
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to short-circuit any drama that might emerge from additional Senate Judiciary Committee hearings into allegations of sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
In comments to a summit of social conservatives, McConnell on Friday predicted that Kavanaugh will be on the Supreme Court in the very near future. He told the group “don’t get rattled by all this.”
‘In the very near future, Judge Kavanaugh will be on the U.S. Supreme Court. We’re going to plow right through it and do our job.’
Christine Blasey Ford has signaled she is willing to testify, under certain conditions, about what she says happened at a party when she and Kavanaugh were teenagers. She has said that Kavanaugh groped her and pinned her down at a party and would have raped her if he was not inebriated. Kavanaugh denies the allegations.
